St. Sebastian’s Aqueduct is known as Arcos do Jardim. Its 1 km long route takes advantage of a Roman aqueduct that brought water to the upper part of the city. King Sebastian had it rebuilt for the same reason, in the second half of the 16th century.

In the 1960s, an arch and the buildings attached to it were demolished to allow the opening of the Praça D. Dinis, leaving twenty arches preserved.
