The Stairs of Minerva

The Stairs of Minerva give access to the School Patio, next to the Joanine Library. Being a secondary entrance, it ensured the connection to the neighbouring colleges, where students lived. Even today, it still establishes the communication between the university and the exterior. Its construction started in 1622, but only at the end of that century did it receive the statue of Minerva, giving it the name by which it became known. Scenic and symbolic, the staircase once again celebrates the figure of Sapience, to which the entire university is consecrated.
